SAMPLE #5
Your thorns take up the space inside you that Jesus wants to occupy. You ask him to enter, but then you squeeze Him in there with all those thorns. You ask Jesus to dwell in the same place as your fears of such things as abandonment, betrayal, rejection, judgment, and more.
God resides in your soul, on the love side. Removing your thorns makes more room for God to grow inside you. As God’s presence grows within you, you’ll begin to feel and experience more peace, joy, love, happiness, and freedom. You’ll then be able to ride the wave of all these God-like feelings all the way to actualizing your true potential.
The more thorns, or fear, you have in your soul, the less room there is for God within you. God is the Love in your soul. Jesus within you is your source of joy, peace, freedom, creativity, imagination, and potential. If you allow your thorns to take up space in your soul, you deny God that space and are surrendering it to the enemy. This means that you’re also trading your peace for chaos and conflict. You’re trading your joy for anxiety and your happiness for stress. You’re crowding out your imagination and creativity with worry. You’re not putting your entire God-given energy toward the fulfillment of your potential.
…
Your thorns create pain in your heart that you either feel or unknowingly constantly try to avoid feeling. You may avoid people, love, and opportunity in your effort to avoid the pain of abandonment, betrayal, judgment, or rejection, but you still have done nothing to remove your fears of abandonment, betrayal, judgment, or rejection. You may feel that you’re now safe from these thorns, but actually at this point your whole life is consumed with protecting yourself from them, leaving little time to find Jesus and move in the light.
The good news is that you can allow that spark of God within you to grow into a roaring flame that consumes your whole soul and pours love into your life. To do this, you must remove your thorns.
